INSURANCE

Jamie has practiced in insurance since his admission in September 1988. Jamie practices in:

CTP insurance litigation;
General insurance public liability claims.

Jamie has a particular interest and expertise in loss of future earning capacity. Jamie was involved in a High Court decision of Husher v Husher that settled the law concerning partnership matters as they relate to loss of future earning capacity.

Jamie has also taken a particular interest in claims referred to as “minimum impact claims”. These matters have been heard in the District Court and have involved expert evidence and physical evidence to establish that a particular injury could only have resulted in a temporary injury lasting less than six months, in circumstances where the injured plaintiff was claiming a long term ongoing problem.

WORKING WITH INSURERS

Jamie has taken a particular interest in minimum impact claims which has involved a close working with a particular CTP insurer to establish principles for assessing such claims.
Jamie is the client liaison partner for CTP insurer RACQ and is closely involved with the supervision of instructions from the insurer and in all aspects of RACQ Insurance providing the best approach it can to these claims.

EDUCATION

Jamie has regularly provided seminars for the Queensland Law Society and other legal training organisations.
Jamie has provided seminars for ANZIIF.
Jamie has provided in-house seminars and training for insurance companies and has a particular interest in education.
Jamie is currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Business (Professional Management) through the Australian Institute of Management. This course has a particular emphasis on innovation, an area that is of great interest to Jamie.
