Julie has practised law within the insurance division of the firm since her admission in 1991.

She works in close conjunction with the firm’s Senior Partner acting on behalf of Queensland’s major insurers including Suncorp Metway Insurance Limited, GIO General Limited, Lumley General Insurance, Vero Insurance Limited and the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria.

Julie is an experienced litigator practising in the field of general insurance law primarily in the defence of claims under statutory schemes and pursuant to general insurance policies.

WORKING WITH CLIENTS

Julie assists primarily in the defence of claims for personal injury including:

Claims arising out of motor vehicle and workplace construction accidents;
Injuries sustained in public places such as shopping centres, restaurants etc; and
Accidents occurring on private and/or residential properties.

She also has experience in handling property damage claims and in particular claims involving loss by fire complicated by issues of fraud.

Julie has had significant involvement in the management of claims for catastrophic injuries including claims for brain injury, spinal chord injury and amputation. She has extensive experience in the conduct of claims involving multiple parties and requiring the application of different (and sometimes conflicting) statutory schemes, particularly the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act, Workers’ Compensation & Rehabilitation Act, Motor Accident Insurance Act 1994 and Civil Liability Act.
