Although industrial evolution and progress have been a major focus of the 21st century, it has occurred at a terrible cost. Asbestos sheeting and asbestos products, which were once used extensively in industry, are now recognised as the cause of severe lung conditions, some of which are fatal. Asbestosis and mesothelioma are being diagnosed at an alarming rate and claims for personal injuries as a result of developing these conditions also continue to rise. People who are diagnosed with these and related conditions were exposed to the fibres 20 30 years ago. Therefore claims for these conditions are potentially statute barred.
