Not all workers are covered by Workers’ Compensation. Some people are required to take out private income protection policies. These policies generally allow for the payment of a total and permanent disability benefits or the payment of a partial disability benefit if a person is injured or suffers an illness. Certain criteria have to be satisfied before you are entitled to be paid these types of benefits. Each policy is different and your eligibility to receive these benefits depends on the wording of the policy. Insurers often interpret the wording of the policies on a very restricted basis and applications for the payment of benefits are often refused in circumstances where the benefit should be paid. If you are not sure if you have been paid correctly or you believe that you should have been paid a benefit that was refused under the policy then you should contact our team and seek legal advice. |
