Wills and Estates

To ensure the protection of your family, and your assets, it is vital that you have a valid and up-to-date will.

Once you have established your will it is a good idea to review it every 2 – 5 years to ensure you do not wish to make any changes/additions to the document. In particular if you experience a change in your life such as any of the below it is very important to change your Will to reflect this:

  • If you marry or change your name
  • If you separate or divorce from your partner
  • If you purchase a significant asset
  • If someone in your current Will passes away or changes their name.

Powers of Attorney

Life is unexpected and you never know what is around the corner, so putting structures into place to protect you, your family and your assets - no matter what the future may bring is a very good idea.

Powers of Attorney can give you peace of mind for the future. They are special documents created so that in the years to come if you become sick or injured, you can appoint a trusted friend or family member to look after you and assist in making important decisions.

Contact the QMT team now to enquire more about Powers of Attorney.

Advance Health Directives

Just like Powers of Attorney give you the ability to appoint someone to look after your personal affairs if a time comes in the future where you are unable to do so for yourself, Advance Health Directives give you an option to ensure your wishes are met when it comes to medical treatment.

An Advance Health Directive is a document where you can state your wishes about how you would like your body to be dealt with in the event that you are sick or injured in the future, and are not in a state where you can make such decisions.

For more information on Advance Health Directives and the protection they can provide please contact our office today.
